Blended Learning
At the Dream Academy we define Blended learning as a combination of three strategies:
"Tradigital" is a phrase coined by Kevin Honeycutt, educational keynote speaker and trainer.
- Project Based Learning : cross-curricular long term projects that follow the teaching philosophy of constructionism as defined by Seymour Papert, where students not only build a product, but then have the opportunity to share that product with an authentic audience.
- Online Classes : with the wealth of quality online resources available today, students are able to not only pursue areas of special interest through independent study, but they are also empowered to pursue subjects of interest asymmetrically (for advancement beyond the grade level) through online courses.
- Tradigital Learning : though a large part of the academic year is spent in projects, there is also the inclusion of more traditional teaching methods of instruction and guided practice which help students develop skills. However, the manner in which materials pass from teacher to student is digital, utilizing resources like our SIS and LMS to report and house work.

In this 7th grade learning space, students are preparing for a Medieval party. The space is designed for easy reconfiguration in order to support Project Based Learning. Students all have Surface tablets, which allow them to curl up in a corner and invest time in online courses, while the display screen in the corner, and the white-board paint on all the walls allows for some traditional stand and deliver sessions.
