Teaching Cohorts
In order to model the collaborative skills we wish to inculcate in our students, our faculty also collaborate with one another in groups of three to four teachers per grade level, for our core subjects. The learning spaces average 50 students per grade level, which the teaching cohort manages. Their main responsibilities are focused around these three mandates:
As students progress into more specialized subjects, single instructors in specialized learning spaces are employed with no more than a 1:15 teacher to student ratio. Some examples include Spanish, French, Mandarin, Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Programming, PE, and Drama. As part of our Blended learning approach, many specialized subjects are also available as independent online courses.
- Cross-curriculum project based learning
- Rotation for just-in-time instructional needs
- Management of the open shared learning space

This is an image of a 9th grade space while under construction. The sliding glass door in the center is meant to separate it into two equal spaces. It is designed for an English - History combination.
Here is the same space, complete, with a husband and wife teaching team. The wife is presenting a lesson on Romeo and Juliet on the far side while her husband is working 1:1 with a student on the near side.
